Recipe – Healthy Turkey Burgers

  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil

  • 450g Turkey Mince

  • 1 Garlic Cloves

  • 1 Large Onion

  • 1 Egg

  • 1 Large Carrot

 

Optional Ingredients

  • 85g Porridge Oats (great for adding fibre to your diet)

  • Chili (the amount depends purely on how hot you like it)

  • 100g dried apricot, finely chopped (can substitute with apple)

 

Method

Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a pan and gently fry the onion until soft (typically 5 minutes). Crush the garlic gloves, add to the pan and fry for a further minute. Add the porridge oats at this stage if you want to include them. If adding oats, fry for a further minute or two until the oats are nice and soft. Tip into a bowl and allow to cool.

Add the remaining ingredients to the bowl; this includes the egg – beaten, the carrot – grated, and the minced turkey. Mix well using hands, add salt and pepper to taste then shape into patties (you should be able to make 8 patties with the amounts provided here).

Pre-heat your oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6.

Sear the patties in a non-stick frying pan using the remaining oil. Sear until well coloured (about 3 – 4 minutes on each side).

Transfer to a baking sheet and cook in the pre-heated oven for a further 10 – 15 minutes. Serve (we leave it you to decide what you serve with).
